Younis Khan, the legendary batsman believes that PCB took the right step to appoint Babar Azam as the team’s new ODI captain.
The doubts about appointing him as captain would affect his batting were brushed off by Younis Khan as he said the 25-year-old “is quite a resilient boy”
Babar Azam will also lead Pakistan in limited overs cricket as he was named the T20 captain back in October last year
“This certainly showed he was ready for bigger things, thought it would be quite a challenge as captaincy in the 50-overs game demands a lot more thinking. It’s one of the right decisions taken by PCB after a while. Though he may not look like it, Babar is quite a resilient boy and he excelled in the T20 format even with the additional responsibility of captaincy” Khan said
He also thinks he should carry the team like a leader despite having senior players around him
“It’s a young team that has to lead, though there could be a few players senior in age to him. He has to be protective about the team and take it forward.”
